One Sheet of EPDM, No Joints

EPDM is a synthetic rubber membrane supplied on the roll in large sizes, so most domestic flat roofs are covered with one piece and no joints across the main area. It stays flexible in cold weather, moves with the timber as it expands and shrinks, and is not broken down by sunlight the way older bitumen coverings are. We fit RubberCover, an EPDM system made for UK roofs with its own adhesives, trims and accessories.

Rubber is a good fit for garages, single-storey extensions and dormers where the roof is a simple shape and does not get regular foot traffic. Because it is bonded with adhesive rather than a torch, it also suits roofs close to timber cladding, plastic roof lights or anywhere a flame would be a worry. It is less suited to balconies and roof terraces, where a harder surface takes wear better.

Rubber shows every bump in the deck beneath, so we make sure the decking is flat, dry and clean before the rubber goes down. Edges are finished with RubberCover trims, upstands are glued and dressed into place, and corners are folded rather than cut wherever possible. The roof comes with our 10-year guarantee, so a lifted edge or failed bond in year eight is ours to fix, not yours.
